HOPPER BODY: Constructed of 10 ga. electrically welded steel; one-piece side, end and middle sheets; 7 ga, corten or stainless steel available; front and rear positioning and restraining members included; sides sloped at 45 degrees and channel formed to provide a rigid rail; four lifting eyes provided; standard unit 42" high by 83" wide. CONVEYOR ASSEMBLY: Material conveyed from hopper to distributor disc by two 24" conveyors; conveyor chains have tensile strength of 42,000 lbs. each, and barrel diameter of 7/8" with stainless steel disconnects; conveyors operate on 3/16" thick abrasion resistant wear plates; wear plates mounted on tracks for replacement; conveyor chain wipers at front and rear; chain protected by 10 gauge steel aprons; unit includes two crank actuated discharge gates each with discharge area up to 240 square inches; lower edge of gate fitted with flexible seal; spring cushioned conveyor idlers are self compensating and adjustable for tension over a 4" range; ball bearings are relubricable, and idler adjustment is located at the rear of hopper. HYDRAULICALLY POWERED CONVEYOR: Conveyor drive shaft speed range .5 to 40 RPM; RPM/GPM factor of 1.5; maximum pressure rating of 3,000 psi; overall efficiency of 95% at 3,000 psi; constant torque regardless of RPM of not less than 30,000 inch pounds at 1,500 psi; delivers 14 to 5,500 pounds per minute of rock salt at conveyor drive shaft speed of 1/4 to 40 RPM; a 2" diameter conveyor drive shaft fitted with two 8-tooth drive sprockets per conveyor. DISTRIBUTOR DISC: 10 gauge steel 20" diameter with six replaceable abrasion resistant vanes; driven by direct coupled hydraulic motor; disc may be moved horizontally to provide desired spread pattern to the right, left or directly behind spreader; four deflectors regulate the spread pattern from 8 to 40 feet; deflectors and disc may be adjusted 16 inches vertically; disc and chute assembly can be removed for stock piling or ground storage.
